This & that
Elementary, I really like you. I mean, you've become my sunday morning show, the one I watch while having my super-important sunday breakfast. High status. The only one with a higher rank at this point is The Good Wife because you shall not eat while watching The Good Wife. You shall do nothing else while watching The Good Wife, and give it your full attention.

Last Resort, I understand you're almost gone, but before that, can someone please write me a tiny Chaplin/Cortez fic? I guess we're supposed to ship Kendal/Sophie or Shepard/King (or King/Pretty much anyone if I trust the few fics posted on the AO3), but really, who cares about those pairings? (I do like Shepard, even more so because physically, she reminds me of Sara Tancredi, I just don't really care to ship her with anyone.) Just a tiny Chaplin/Cortez, please? Or maybe it's father/daughter vibes that I'm picking, and in this case, requesting Chaplin/Cortez is creepy... Oh, well!

Hunted, that very last scene? Didn't see it coming.

I'm doing a "light rewatch" of Prison Break. Meaning I play the DVDs in the background while writing, especially while working on Story of Faith. It's supposed to set the mood.
That's the theory, at least. The reality is that I watch quite a bit and don't write a lot because I suck at multitasking when writing is involved. And it is the first season after all, you know? I guess when I reach S3, my attention will wander a lot more.

I've signed up for findyourwords and I'm supposed to write at least 35.000 words in 2013. I'm planning on:
→ 10.000 to finish Story of Faith - I will complete the damn thing;
→ 25.000 for one shots, which is roughly what I wrote in 2012.

I have about six or seven Prison Break ficlets to post, all Michael/Sara, Michael/Lincoln or Michael/Sara/Lincoln (see a pattern here? ;)) Not really feeling like it for now and dragging my feet. Meh.

I think I wrote myself out of the corner where I was stuck with Story of Faith and I can go forward at least for the few next steps. So yay. Now, I just need to write ^__^

Your dedication to your fic is inspiring!

I would love to do a light rewatch of PB - especially S1 & S2...wish I had someone close by who would enjoy sharing that with me. My small gift-fic to you a year or two back (as zagzagael remains the ONLY PB I've written...but the story and charas do compel. I think your ficlets go a long way towards satisfying my personal need for fic.

I've got to polish my novel this month and then begin the resubmitting process in February. And I've got two more stories incubating...

And by 'dedication', you mean 'obsession', right? ;) Seriously, though. The one shots are mostly PWP: I have fic ideas, I just write them, I can't help it. Story of Faith is another story. It's a fix-it fic: I have so many issues with the last season and the ending of the show, I have to complete that damn story. I think I have about two thirds or three quarters of it, but it's a slow process. A really, really slow process.

I've got to polish my novel this month

Ah, see? This is dedication for me. I can't write original fic anymore. Too lazy. I must love the characters to write them. With original fic, I have to build them and learn to love them, whereas with fanfic, it's instant gratification.

Hee~! Yeah, I think those of us in the fandom who've clocked in over 100's of thousands of words are....obsessed. But in a good way! ;)

The last season was a hard one. I opted OUT of the movie of Sara's prison break - should I watch it? I was just so disappointed...I didn't know what to do with the ending of that show. I can't think of another show...outside of Spike in Buffy that left me so torn.

I enjoy writing in fandoms, but my true feeling of creativity comes with original. I use fanfic for experimenting in prose or answering the Muse in a way that won't hold up in original.

It's the first time I reject so strongly the ending of a tv show, but I hesitated for months before starting a fix-it fic. On the one hand, I hated what they did to the canon during the fourth season; on the other hand, it is the canon. Logical solution: keeping as much as possible of it and blending it into the story. I hope in the end the whole thing will make sense...

I didn't want to watch The Final Break, but eventually I caved in out of curiosity. (And, ahem, maybe I meant a little bit to watch Michael and Sara's wedding and stop after it. But I kept watching *sigh*) As far as I'm concerned, poor idea, rushed and badly executed. At least, the last minutes of S4 were nicely done and implied Michael had a few good days or weeks before dying. The only reason I can give you to watch the movie is if you like Gretchen, who plays a rather important part in it.

I forgot in my previous comment: good luck with the novel! I admire the work it represents *bows*

Haha-- so, did my mentioning dropping out of findyourwords in 2012 prompt you to join it?

I'm thinking I should join it again this year. Just to make myself nuts. ;)

I almost bought S1 of PB during Black Friday at Amazon, and now I regret not doing it. :(

Ohoh, you're totally to blame for findyourwords! I hadn't heard of the comm before you mentioned it. But I didn't want to put the blame on you in the entry ;)

I've signed up for the minimal requirement because I don't write as much as I did a few years ago. But 35.000 words nicely meets my goal for the year, so... *crosses fingers* I can only encourage you to join and dedicate some of those words to Prison Break fic.

I'm a very silly fangirl, PB-wise. I bought all four seasons and the movie, even though I can't stand it. But yes, S1 is definitely worth rewatching no matter what.

Hm... would you say I should continue watching "Elementary" then? I only saw the pilot so far, and I was slightly disappointed because
the Holmes-feeling came not really across - at least not for me. Maybe I should make it my Sunday Breakfast show... *ponders* Because you are so right, Sunday breakfasts are super important! :))

Okay, you got me. Totally had me gaping at "writing to playing PB in the background", because there is NO WAY I can see this is possible. At least not when the sound is on. Too distracting, too pretty, too compelling. But you think you can do it when it's time for season 3?
Clair de Lune: origami - canardclair_de_lune on January 14th, 2013 10:25 pm (UTC)
Well, I like Elementary so in a way, yes, I'd say you should continue watching ;) But the show doesn't drastically change after the pilot: if you didn't enjoy it, I'm not sure you'd enjoy the other episodes. Maybe it's a bit different for me because, not being a fan or a connoisseur of Sherlock Holmes in any of its incarnations, I don't mind, or even notice, if Elementary doesn't feel Sherlock Holmes-y.

I know! I lower the sound but it doesn't help because after a while, I turn it up again. I'm weak ;) As for S3 and S4, the trick is I need to watch them - S4 at least - for my WIP, to make sure there is no huge incoherence in my plot, but unlike the first couple of seasons... I don't feel like it :-p

Thank you :) Above all, I want to complete my WIP!!
