LJ has implemented a new feature: you can now crosspost your entries and comments on other people's entries - even the flocked posts - on Facebook and Twitter. Aren't you happy to know that comments on your flocked content may end up over there? No? Really? How weird *ironic*

- LJ announcement
- Link to disable the feature so that you do not crosspost accidentally
- Script to get rid of the Facebook/Twitter checkboxes
- Poll to express how much you enjoy the idea

Courtesy of becca_radcgg via badboy_fangirl: this should prevent the facebook/twitter checkboxes from displaying:

⇒ Go to Custom CSS, paste or add to your layout .b-repost-item {display:none} into the Custom stylesheet box and save changes.

NB: This trick only impacts your layout. If someone has turned on the feature by default, their comments will still be cross-posted (eta: except on FO entries).
Apparently, you need to paste the line at the top of your custom layout. I tried adding it at the end and it did nothing. At the top, works like a charm ♥

Although I don't use it, I've had a Dreamwidth account for a while. If you're already on my flist here and I find you on DW, chances are I'll add you over there too, just in case ;) I also have a few invite codes to give out. Just send me a PM if you're interested.

I am so irritated by all of this. :/

They seem to acknowledge that people are not happy at all. How naive is it to hope they'll offer an opt out feature, at least for flocked entries?

Thanks for letting me know what is going on. I just returned from out of the country, so I had no idea what was going on.

You're welcome. Apparently, this is their most recent great idea *sighs*

It's almost impossible to imagine peeps around here not loving the FB/Twitter cross-posting thingie, isn't it?!!!! WHAT IS FRANK THINKING OF?!!

Thanks for linking to the poll, sweetheart. I have voiced my displeasure!

I'm over at Dreamwidth too; I think we're connected there already. It's nice to have a bolt-hole just in case, isn't it?!! :)

Okay, got some catching up with you to do!

I don't even have a Facebook account. I'm a bit paranoid about the info I share online so a site where you (are supposed to) register under your real name? Not so much. My twitter account is eclair_de_lune and I tweeted a grand total of two times. Moreover, given the reactions, I don't think anyone from my flist would repost on FB or Twitter except accidentally.
Sorry for the capslock.

I think we're connected there already.
Yes, we are. I gave you an invite code to create your account: you had no other choice than friending me over there too *g*

Yes, it was the principle, wasn't it? It looks like LJ might be modifying this facility though, if the latest post reads how I think it reads!

Yes, you did give me an invite code!! I remember!

you had no other choice than friending me over there too *g*

I did have a choice! And I chose to join you!

Going for catching up again!!

I've seen their post in the news too and, apparently, cross-posting from flocked entries won't be possible. Same for screened comments (I guess that if you *really* don't want people to cross-post their comments in your LJ, you can always screen all comments by default and unscreen them when you read them...)
If I understood the entry right, anyway.

I did have a choice! And I chose to join you!
I know. I was joking *hugs*

Cool, thanks for the code!

De rien :)

Edit: Ahem. I mean, you're welcome. But "De rien" works too :-p

Haha, no worries, I know that one! :D

It was bound to happen at some point, but I thought it would happen the other way around: sometimes, I think hard about the way to phrase something in English - and realize my French flist or RL people do not need me babbling in English *shakes head*
